Student Testimonials

Don’t take our word for it – here’s what our students say:

Amidst stormy seas, Adam was a critical ballast helping me sail upright through serious adversity. He is an exceptional listener and empathizer who really cares about making a positive impact on those he works with. Adam’s support made a lasting difference in my life and I feel incredibly fortunate to have benefited from his wisdom.

Adam knows academia at its highest levels—as a scholar, a professor, an administrator, and an advocate. He marries a big-picture view of the college ecosystem with a truly personal level of warmth, care, and focus. His perspective makes things make sense. When I was struggling with perfectionism and anxiety at Harvard, Adam’s sound advice and his tireless work on my behalf helped me learn to use my abilities to the fullest. He’s played a crucial role in the success I enjoy today.

Adriano I.

Harvard University ’19

Adam supported and counseled me through three of the most academically and personally challenging years of my life. With every conversation, Adam made me feel heard and understood. His quiet, calm demeanor always calmed me, and it was obvious that he never judged. Adam’s continuous guidance and advocacy helped me rise from a student on academic probation to graduating in good standing, and now, I am thriving in law school. Working with Adam, I gained confidence and, more importantly, a lifelong mentor and friend. I first met Adam during a time in college when I was feeling pessimistic about pretty much everything and trying to manage the situation by self-medicating. I went to him with my defenses up, ready to disregard whatever he said as just another moment to endure. What caught me off guard was that Adam neither moralized nor bent over backwards to sympathize. Instead, he approached my situation with genuine concern and asked me a lot of good questions about my substance use and about my feelings about life overall. Although I was reluctant, Adam eventually convinced me to join a substance abuse group offered by the university’s health services. Thus began a journey which would lead me to complete 12-step programs in both AA and NA and to find a completely new way to live, throughout which Adam continued to meet with me and support me. What makes Adam such a great mentor is that he’s as empathetic a person as people come, but he also knows how to offer concrete, constructive guidance. I know I’m not the only person on whose life Adam has had a positive, transformative influence, and I can say with confidence that any young person struggling academically, vocationally, socially, personally, or otherwise would be lucky to have Adam as a mentor in their life.
